What ClearFarewell is — and isn't

ClearFarewell helps families navigate the practical tasks after a death: a what-to-do-now checklist, a price-list and quote comparison tool, and a document & notification tracker. It is a planning and organizing tool, not a substitute for professional advice.

ClearFarewell does not provide legal, financial, tax, estate-administration, medical, or religious advice. Requirements vary by state, funeral home, and individual circumstances — always confirm specifics with your funeral home, an attorney, your state's vital-records office, or clergy as appropriate. Letter templates and checklist items are starting points, not guarantees that a given step is legally required or sufficient in your situation.

Language on this site describing a purchase as "reimbursable from the estate" or similar means many estates can reimburse funeral-related expenses, not that VectraSEO handles estate administration, files paperwork with an estate, or guarantees reimbursement — that depends on the estate's own process and applicable law.

Accounts and sign-in

ClearFarewell uses passwordless, email-based sign-in ("magic links"). You're responsible for keeping access to the email account you sign up with, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away at hello@clearfarewell.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Payment, refunds, and pricing

• The what-to-do-now checklist is free, with no account required.
• The Complete ($79) and Family ($129) tiers are one-time purchases, processed by Stripe. There is no subscription and nothing auto-renews.
• You may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase by using the in-app refund request, or by emailing hello@clearfarewell.com. Refunding downgrades your case back to the Free tier and its features.
• We may change prices for future purchases at any time; a change never affects a purchase you've already made.

Your content

You keep ownership of the case details, documents, and other content you upload or enter ("your content"). You grant VectraSEO a license to host, store, process, and display your content back to you (and to family members you share a case with) as needed to provide the service — including sending uploaded document images to our AI vision provider so line items can be read and compared. If you opt a document into the Funeral Price Index, you also grant us a license to include its anonymized, aggregated data in that public dataset, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for making sure you have the right to upload the content you provide (for example, a price list or quote given to you by a funeral home), and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.

Price comparisons and fairness flags

Fairness flags compare a price you've uploaded against prices we've collected for similar items in your area. They're informational, built from a limited and sometimes incomplete sample, and are not an accusation of wrongdoing or a certification of any kind — legitimate reasons (facility, staffing, ownership structure, and more) can explain a higher price. Where we don't have enough comparable data, we say so rather than guess. A funeral home may submit context or a correction on any flag naming its business; we review submissions before publishing them and may decline or edit a submission that is abusive, unrelated to the flag, or that we can't verify is from the business it claims to represent.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Impersonate a funeral home or another person when submitting a right-of-reply or any other content;
• Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that contains someone else's sensitive personal information without their consent;
• Attempt to access another family's case without authorization, or scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service;
• Use ClearFarewell for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could harm another user, a funeral home, or ClearFarewell.

We may suspend or terminate access for a violation of these terms, and may remove content (such as a right-of-reply submission) that violates them.

Sharing a case

If you invite family members to a shared case, everyone with access can generally see and edit that case's tasks, tracker, and documents. You're responsible for only inviting people you want to have that access.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

ClearFarewell is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that price comparisons, checklist items, or letter templates are complete, accurate, or suitable for your specific situation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VectraSEO's total liability arising out of or relating to your use of ClearFarewell will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100 if you haven't paid us anything. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Governing law and disputes

VectraSEO operates ClearFarewell from Pennsylvania. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you consent to jurisdiction there.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and take reasonable steps to let account holders know before the change applies to them. Continuing to use ClearFarewell after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
